Charles A. DeCesari

Mr. DeCesari was born in Woodbury, New Jersey. He enlisted in the Marine Corps February 1984. Upon graduating from Parris Island, South Carolina in July 1984 he reported to 2nd Tank Bn., Camp Lejeune North Carolina as a Tow Gunner. In February 1987 he reported for duty as a Tow Gunner and Regimental Scout with 4th Marine Regiment, Camp Schwab, Okinawa Japan. Sergeant DeCesari deployed to Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm while a member of 4th Marines. In May 1991 Sergeant DeCesari reported to 3rd Reconnaissance Bn., as a Reconnaissance Marine, and subsequently transferred to Detachment 3rd Force Reconnaissance Company at Camp Hansen. In Feb 1994 Sergeant DeCesari received orders to Recruiting School and was assigned to RS New Jersey, RSS Haddonfield. In July 1997 Staff Sergeant DeCesari reported for duty with 5th Force Reconnaissance Company at Camp Hansen, Okinawa. Staff Sergeant DeCesari was part of the unit that was re-designated October 1998 to 3rd Reconnaissance Bn.  Gunnery Sergeant DeCesari deployed with 3rd Reconnaissance Bn. In February of 2005 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In November 2005 Master Sergeant DeCesari reported for duty with III MEF Special Operations Training Group. Master Gunnery Sergeant DeCesari retired from the Marine Corps December 2009.

Master Gunnery Sergeant DeCesari’s (Ret) personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Gold star in lieu of second award, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal (eight award), Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Sea Service Ribbon (22 Awards). Mr. DeCesari holds a Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies (minor History) and a Masters of Arts in Education.
