Sergeant Major Lynnette C. Marr-Gaye

    Sergeant Major Marr-Gaye is a native of Charlotte, NC.  In 1993, she graduated from Fort Defiance High School, Fort Defiance, Virginia.  In March 1994 Sergeant Major Marr-Gaye, attended Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.  Then, she reported to her Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) Training as a Motor Vehicle Operator (3531) at Camp Johnson in Jacksonville, N.C.

 

    After graduating from Motor Vehicle Operator’s School, Sergeant Major Marr-Gaye reported to Service Company, 7th Communication Battalion, Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan.  There, she served as a basic Motor Vehicle Operator and was promoted to the ranks of Private First Class and Lance Corporal.  In June 1995, she received orders to Company A, 8th Motor Transportation Battalion, 2nd Force Service Support Group, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.  In April 1997, she was promoted to Corporal and reported to G-6, 2nd Surveillance Reconnaissance Intelligence Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. 

 

    After completing a lateral move, she attended Aviation Supply School, and gained the MOS 6672, Aviation Supply Specialist.  Sergeant Major Marr-Gaye reported to Marine Aviation Logistic Squadron 29 (MALS 29), Marine Aircraft Group 29 (MAG 29), Marine Corps Air Station, New River, North Carolina.  She was later promoted to the rank of Sergeant. 

 

    Sergeant Major Marr-Gaye graduated from Basic Recruiters School located at San Diego, California, in August 2001.  She was assigned to Recruiting Sub-Station (RSS) Chantilly, Recruiting Station Fredrick, 4th Marine Corps District.  In January 2002, she was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant, and later became the Staff Non-Commissioned in Charge of RSS Chantilly.  In 2004 Sergeant Major Marr-Gaye attended Career Recruiters Course.  In January 2005, she was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.

 

    In 2005 Sergeant Major Marr-Gaye reported to MALS 24, MAG 24, Marine Corps Base Hawaii and was assigned as the Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of the Supply Response Division.  Later, she was selected to serve as the Squadron Gunnery Sergeant.  

 

    In 2008, she was promoted to First Sergeant.  She received orders to 1st Intelligence Battalion, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California and was assigned as Production Analysis Company’s, First Sergeant.  Soon after, Sergeant Major Marr-Gaye filled the billet as the Remain Behind Element Staff Noncommissioned Officer in Charge.  In September 2009, Sergeant Major Marr-Gaye was assigned as Counter Intelligence/Human Intelligence (CI/HUMINT) Company’s First Sergeant and deployed to OEF.  After the deployment, she was assigned to CI/HUMINT Support Company.

 

    In January 2012, Sergeant Major Marr-Gaye received orders to 1st Maintenance Battalion, Camp Pendleton, California and served as the First Sergeant of Ordnance Maintenance Company. In January 2014, First Sergeant Marr-Gaye was promoted to Sergeant Major and was assigned to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 269, MAG 29. In January 2017 she received orders to 8th Communication Battalion, II MEF Information Group, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. 

    In November 2018, Sergeant Major Marr-Gaye reported as the Battalion Sergeant Major of Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installations Pacific.
