On May 1st, 1984, Victor M. Martinez was born in Willingboro, NJ. After completing high school, Victor M. Martinez enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Private First Class Martinez completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, SC in September 2003. Private First Class Martinez then reported to the Marine Combat Training (East), at Camp Geiger, NC followed by Field Radio Operators Course 29 Palms, CA. He was then assigned 1st Marine Regiment, Private First Class Martinez deployed to Kuwait then a couple months later to Iraq. There he was assigned as an augment to 2d Battalion (Bn) 1st Marines and 1st Recon Bn as a Line Company Radio Operator and gunner. While on deployment Private Frist Class Martinez was promoted to Lance Corporal, returning from deployment in October, 2004.
In November of 2004, Lance Corporal Martinez received orders to 5th Bn 11th Marines where he served as a Radio Operator/Jumps Teams Marine. In July 2005, Lance Corporal Martinez was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal. Shortly following that in November of 2005 Corporal Martinez received orders to 5th Marine Regiment Headquarters (HQ) Company.
While assigned to 5th Marine Regiment Corporal Martinez was assigned to deploy to Iraq from January 2006 to January 2007. During his deployment he was assigned as an augment to 1st Bn 1st Marines MITT team and 3d Bn 5th Marines. While deployed Corporal Martinez was combat meritoriously promoted to the rank of Sergeant and requested and received orders to recruiting school.
In July 2007, Sergeant Martinez reported to Recruiting School and subsequently received orders to Recruiting Station Dallas. While on recruiting duty he was again meritoriously promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant and selected to be recruiting sub-station Dallas Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (SNCOIC). Following a successful tour, he received orders to 3d Amphibian Assault Bn (AABN) as a Communications Chief in October of 2010.
While at 3d AABN Staff Sergeant Martinez did one Unit Deployment Program (UDP) in June of 2012, where he was instrumental in changing the unit deployment readiness from a 50 percent readiness to a 90 percent readiness.
In August 2012, Staff Sergeant Martinez reported to Marine Helicopter Squadron One and in August of 2015 was promoted to rank of Gunnery Sergeant. While at Marine Helicopter Squadron One, Gunnery Sergeant Martinez held various billets such as Naval Air Training and Operational Procedure instructor (NATOP’s Instructor), Curriculum Developer, Team Leader, Operations Chief, Platoon Sergeant, interim Communications Chief, Communications Recruiter, Marine One Communicator, and Associate White House Liaison Officer (AWHLO).
In July of 2018, Gunnery Sergeant Martinez detached from Marine Helicopter Squadron One and attached to Combat Logistics Regiment 3 (CLR-3) where he served as Regimental Radio Chief, SNCOIC for the Communications platoon, and Director of the Corporals Course. In December of 2018 Gunnery Sergeant Martinez was selected to become a First Sergeant, and in May of 2019 was FROCKED to his current rank of First Sergeant.
In May of 2019 he was assigned to 3d Transportation Support Battalion (3d TSB) to be the First Sergeant for Support Company and Motor Transport Company, during his time there he was instrumental in the program development for battalion PME.
Currently First Sergeant Martinez is serving as the Company First Sergeant for Headquarters and Support Battalion Marine Corps Base Butler, Bravo Company.
First Sergeant Martinez has the following personal awards: (2) Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4) Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals w/(3) gold stars in lieu of forth award and a combat valor device, (1) Combat Action Ribbon, (1) Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and (6) Marine Corps Good Conduct Medals w/(1) silver star in lieu of sixth award, (5) Certificate of Commendation, (8) Meritorious Masts, (11) Letter of Appreciation, and (4) Certificates of Appreciation.
