Colonel Marc T. Walker completed basic training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego in 1991. His enlisted assignments as a Field Radio Operator include: 2d Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company, 1st Stinger Battery, at Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, 3d Marine Aircraft Wing. He is a graduate of the Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection and Training Program in Newport, Rhode Island. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma as a MECEP student with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 2000. Colonel Walker commissioned in May of 2000 and completed The Basic School in 2001.
After completing the Communication Information Systems Officer Course in October of 2001, Colonel Walker served as a Transmission Platoon Commander and Adjutant at Marine Wing Communication Squadron 18. He also served as S6 and the Headquarters Company Commander at Marine Wing Support Squadron 172. During the summer of 2004, he reported to the 3d Marine Division G6 as the Assistant Operations Officer and later as Operations Officer. During his time in the Division, Colonel Walker served as the G6 Operations Officer for Tsunami Relief during Operation Unified Assistance and deployed to Iraq as a liaison officer in the Iraq Prime Minister’s Situation Room. During June of 2006 he reported to III MEF G6 as North-East Asia Plans Officer and Future Operations Officer and completed his tour with III MEF at Tactical Exercise Control Group as the S6 and Simulations Officer. From June 2009 to August 2011, he served as the Deputy G6 of Training and Education Command. After completing resident Command and Staff College in 2012, he reported to 8th Communication Battalion as the Alpha Company Commander and deployed the company to Regional Command Southwest in Helmand Province Afghanistan. Upon his return he was assigned to II MEF G6 as the Deputy Information Technology Officer and was briefly assigned to the 2d Marine Expeditionary Brigade, as a liaison officer to the Commanders of United States Africa Command and Marine Forces Africa. From August 2014 to July 2016, he served as the Operations Officer for 8th Communication Battalion. From July 2016 to July 2019, he served as the Director of the Global Enterprise Operations Center at the United States Special Operations Command. Colonel Walker served as the Assistant Chief of Staff G6, for 2d Marine Division from July 2019 to June 2021. Colonel Walker also served as the Commanding Officer, 3d Network Battalion from July 2021 to June 2023. He served as the Assistant Chief of Staff G6, for Marine Corps Installations Command Pacific from July 2023 to May 2024. He reported to his present assignment as the Commanding Officer Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installations Command Pacific on 31 May, 2024.
Colonel Walker graduated Marine Corps Command and Staff College at Quantico, Virginia in 2012, the Joint C4 Planners Course in 2012, the Joint Enabling Capabilities Course in 2015, the Joint and Combined Warfighting School in 2018 and Air War College in 2022. He holds a Master’s Degree in Military Studies from Marine Corps University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from American Military University.
Colonel Walker’s personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (Gold Star in Lieu of fourth award), Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Gold Star in Lieu of second award).
