Camp Director Courtney & McTureous
Ashley Hoshihara Cruz

Ashley Hoshihara Cruz serves as the Camp Director for Camps Courtney and McTureous, where she oversees the daily operations and support for the Marines, Sailors, and families living and working across both Camps. A native of Fulton, New York, Ashley’s career is defined by a deep commitment to service, safety, and community advocacy.

Ashley began her journey with the Marine Corps in 2009, commissioning as a Military Police Officer. Following her training, she first reported to Marine Wing Support Group 17 (MWSG-17) in Okinawa, where she had the privilege of leading Marines as a Military Police Company Platoon Commander. She later deployed to MARCENT Forward in The Kingdom of Bahrain, serving as the MARCENT Antiterrorism Officer. Notably, she was tasked as the Joint Security Advisor for the Kingdom of Jordan during the regional complexities of the 2012 Arab Spring and the start of the Syrian Conflict—an assignment for which she was recognized with the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal. Upon returning to Okinawa, she served as the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW) Antiterrorism Officer before completing her active-duty service as a Captain in 2013.

Transitioning to the private sector, Ashley spent time in the Brazilian Amazon before bringing her force protection expertise to the executive security firm Gavin de Becker and Associates. She then focused her efforts on protecting and advocating for the vulnerable in South Carolina. She coordinated community services for the Rape Crisis Center of Horry and Georgetown Counties and partnered with the State Attorney General to develop specialized training and support systems for human trafficking victims. During this time, she also earned a Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology with a Military Concentration.

Ashley returned to her roots in Okinawa in 2018, joining the MCIPAC G-3 Regional Installation Protection Office. During the onset of the global pandemic, she was tasked as a lead planner for the command's COVID-19 response. For her steady leadership and coordination during this unprecedented time, she was awarded the Civilian Service Achievement Medal.

In 2024, Ashley transitioned into her current role as Camp Director. Drawing on her diverse background in security, advocacy, and crisis management, she is dedicated to ensuring that Camps Courtney and McTureous remain safe, resilient, and supportive environments for the entire MCIPAC community.
