Flight of the Drones: Middle Schoolers Soar in Drone Competition
Students and staff members with Le Jardin Academy, Kailua Intermediate School, and Aliamanu Middle School, participate in a regional drone competition at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, April 26, 2025. Northern Dragon 26: Iwakuni Marines and Sailors train at JGSDF Camp Nihonbara
U.S. Marines and Sailors with Combat Logistics Company 36, Combat Logistics Regiment 35, 3rd Marine Logistics Group; Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS) 12, Marine Aircraft Group 12, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing; and Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron (HHS), Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, conduct exercise Northern Dragon 26 at Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Camp Nihonbara, Okayama, Japan, from March 13 to March 19, 2026. CLC-36 holds exercise Northern Dragon yearly to enhance and maintain the unit’s combat logistics capabilities, combat marksmanship proficiency, and medical preparedness in austere terrain and weather conditions. Camp Fuji Marines Participate in Yamanako Ice Candle Festival
Nearly two-dozen Marines assigned to Combined Arms Training Center, Camp Fuji volunteered to help with the set-up at this year’s Yamanako (yah-mah-nah-KO) Ice Candle festival on February 22nd. The marines and other volunteers unwrapped hundreds of the ice candles used for the festival. Colonel Scott Welborn and Sergeant Major Christopher Gasser, the Camp Fuji commanding officer and sergeant major also participated in the event. A part of the maneuver training land used by the U.S. and Japanese militaries is in Yamanashi Prefecture, where Yamanako town is located.
