Expiring ID Card
  • Make an appointment up to 90 days before the ID card expires - RAPIDS Appointment Scheduler
  • Bring two forms of ID from the DoD List of Acceptable Identity Documents (the current ID card may count as one form of ID)
    • If there are unexpired identity documents already scanned into DEERS they may be utilized, but it is highly suggested not to assume there are already scanned identity document within DEERS
    • Per DoD policy, the requirement of two forms of ID is extremely strict - there is no way to waive this requirement

Already Expired ID Card
  • Make an appointment on the RAPIDS Appointment Scheduler, if no appointments are available that day you may utilize our walk-in options
  • Bring two forms of ID from the DoD List of Acceptable Identity Documents
    • If there are unexpired identity documents already scanned into DEERS they may be utilized, but it is highly suggested not to assume there are already scanned identity document within DEERS
    • Per DoD policy, the requirement of two forms of ID is extremely strict
      • If two acceptable forms of ID are unavailable, the ID Card Center supervisor has the discretion to issue a limited number of temporary 30 day ID cards (this purpose of which is to allow the individual time to obtain two forms of acceptable identity documentation) - the requirement for two forms of ID ultimately must still be met

Lost/Damaged ID Card
  • Obtain a Minor Offense Report (MOR) or Lost ID Card Statement from the Provost Marshall's Office (PMO) or Security Forces

Name or Rank Change
  • Do NOT use walk-in times for Promotion CACs, you will be told to make an appointment - this is a non-urgent service and we require walk-in times to service more time sensitive ID card and DEERS issues
    • Do not make an appointment on the day of your promotion prior to 1400 for a new CAC, it is not yet the 1st of the month CONUS and we cannot change your rank prior to that
    • Generally, rank changes reflect automatically in DEERS about 2 weeks after the date of promotion, if you make an appointment prior to that a promotion warrant is required to manually change the rank (MARADMINs/NAVADMINs can not be utilized, a promotion warrant is mandatory)
  • When a name change occurs, the service member must ensure their name change is processed with their personnel section (IPAC) prior to their ID card appointment, otherwise it will default to the old name in DEERS after a period of time
    • Name change in the case of marriage requires the original marriage certificate
    • All other name changes require either court documentation noting the name change or a new Social Security Card or Passport that reflects the name change

Malfunctioning CAC
  • If you are having difficulties regarding a specific website or program, but are able to login to your workstation, this is not an issue with your CAC - contact the helpdesk for the specific website or program you are trying to access
  • If you receive a message stating "Your account has been disabled" this is an issue with your computer account, not your CAC - contact your IT helpdesk (for USMC dial "117" from a DSN phone)
  • The ID Card Center will test your CAC to see if it is malfunctioning, if it is then the CAC may be replaced
  • Make an appointment on the RAPIDS Appointment Scheduler, if no appointments are available that day you may utilize our walk-in options
    • Per DoD policy, the requirement of two forms of ID is extremely strict (the current ID card may count as one form of ID)

Adding/Updating Certificates (E-mail & Computer access) on a CAC
  • Save yourself a trip! Consider utilizing ID Card Office Online (aka Rapids Self Service) to update your email address yourself from any CAC enabled computer
  • Customers may walk-in to any ID Card Center for this service and wait to be seen between appointments
  • Please note, you MUST know your government email address, do not come to the ID card center if you are not certain of your government email address
  • The ID Card Center does not create, change, adjust, or otherwise control email or computer accounts, this is accomplished by submitting a System Authorization Access Request (SAAR) through your unit
    • To submit a SAAR, new service members sometimes need to reset their CAC Pin Number, this is also a service we can provide
  • Only a single set of encryption certificates for an email address can be added to a CAC at a time
    • For customers requiring access to multiple DoD networks (i.e. USMC & Navy), after submitting the appropriate SAARs there is no need to come into the ID Card Center for additional certificates - there are none to add unless the customer desires to change their encryption certificates to the match their email on the new/other network (this will overwrite the current email encryption certificates on the CAC)

Dual Persona (individuals with multiple CACs)
  • There are some select situations in which an individual may have two CACs, such as an individual that is both a Reservist and a GS or Contract employee
  • If the individual requires unique computer/network access on each CAC, a Personnel Category Code (PCC) must be added to one of the individual's CACs to differentiate between the two
    • This can be accomplished ONLY on ID Card Office Online, we unfortunately cannot add the PCC from our workstations at the ID Card Center
    • The DoDID number will then have a letter appended to the end of it (i.e. 1234567890 -> 1234567890.A) and this will be used on the SAAR for the second computer account
    • Be extremely careful in adding a PCC to a CAC, there is no way to remove it without re-issuing the CAC, feel free to contact the ID Card Center if you have questions

100% Disabled American Veteran (DAV)
Veterans and their dependents who are rated by the Department of Veterans Affairs as 100% disabled or unemployable are entitled to an ID Card with MWR, Commissary, and Exchange privileges.
  • Make an appointment on the RAPIDS Appointment Scheduler
  • To establish DEERS eligibility, the veteran must provide their DD Form 214 and VA Rating Determination Letter indicating 100% disabled/unemployable and whether the rating is permanent or temporary (if temporary, the letter must state the future reexamination date)
  • Bring two forms of ID from the DoD List of Acceptable Identity Documents
    • If there are unexpired identity documents already scanned into DEERS they may be utilized, but it is highly suggested not to assume there are already scanned identity document within DEERS
    • Per DoD policy, the requirement of two forms of ID is extremely strict - there is no way to waive this requirement

Individual Ready Reserve (IRR)
Following the end of a service-member's Active Duty service, some individuals still have a Reserve obligation. During this time the service-member will retain an IRR ID Card which entitles them to base access, MWR, Commissary, and Exchange privileges. The service-member's dependents are not authorized ID cards or base privileges from IRR status.
  • The individual's DEERs profile will NOT update immediately upon leaving Active Duty, the ID Card Center is unable to create the member's IRR profile within DEERS, the individual's gaining Reserve unit will do this - it typically takes 1 to 2 weeks after the individual's EAS date before the ID Card Center is able to create the IRR ID Card
  • Make an appointment on the RAPIDS Appointment Scheduler 1 to 2 weeks after your EAS date, if no appointments are available that day you may utilize our walk-in options
    • You may call in to the ID Card Center and verify that your DEERS profile has updated prior to your appointment
